I'm Riding for a reason in January
This year we will not be joined by the international pro-cycling teams or hold our World Tour Cycling event.
COVID-19 stopped the Tour Down Under, but it has not stopped cancer nor the work of Cancer Council SA.
Did you know that from the beginning of the first lockdown until well into the second half of the year Cancer Council SA provided continuous telephone support services on our 13 11 20 service as well as video and telephone counselling sessions with people affected by cancer. We implemented webinar solutions so we could conduct the prevention programs we deliver around Australia and of course all this delivered from our staff’s homes.
And importantly, we kept our lodges open so that people from rural and remote locations with cancer could continue to come to Adelaide for treatment. Not surprisingly, some of our staff found themselves with free time. They took on duties normally provided by our amazing volunteers, like driving guests to treatment, processing donations and packing the resources that our clients were seeking. This allowed us to continue our mission of serving our guests and clients.
So I am riding again, and I am asking for your financial support again.
I know the economic conditions have hurt many in our community, but if you are in a position where things have not been too bad, please support Cancer Council SA by clicking on this link.
Because it is not about the bike, it is about continuing to serve our community.
Thanks for your time and continuing support
