I'm Riding for a reason in January
In January I am joining NATES MATES riding the 78km part of the Tour Down Under Challenge Tour to raise money for the Cancer Council.
A year ago our friend Nate lost his life to a short but heroic battle with gastric cancer. Nate was in his early 30s, had just taken a new exciting job and had his whole life ahead of him when he got the diagnosis. A few months later he was gone.
Our friend Tony had a similar sudden and unexpected battle with gastric cancer several years ago. He left behind his wonderful wife and 2 beautiful young children.
Basically gastric cancer really sucks - it's a very aggressive cancer and people often have no symptoms at all until it's quite advanced. And it sometimes effects young people in their 30s and 40s.
The money raised through Ride for a reason enables the Cancer Council to fund vital prevention, research, advocacy and support programs for cancer sufferers and their loved ones.
With one in two Australians diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85, the need to find better ways to detect and treat cancer is real.
Donate to support my ride and help us work towards a cancer free future!
